RESERVED Rare and Etherial Berber Agate Pendant Necklace

There is no other word than a big WOW for this piece! It is a rare and definitely one of a kind piece! I have seen other Berber Agates, but never one that is as beautifully designed as this one. Mother Earth was really at her best when she created this piece! The outside is rich salmon and reds. Best of all this stone as a story and a spirit of the stone.

The inside of the stone looks like individual halos rising in circles above the round white “moon” at the bottom of the stone. If you look very carefully at the halo lines, you will see the spirit of the stone on both sides....I sense that she is guarding the "moon." It appears that she is carrying a small animal. Send me a convo and tell me what you see! Also, there is a beautiful druzy on both sides of the stone that adds sparkle to the whole picture. It shows well on either side. This piece is not only beautiful, the story is beautiful too. Because the picture is totally different on each side, the story is also a little different on each side. Definitely an eye catching piece and one that will bring lots of “oohs and ahs.”

The stone itself is 2.8” long by 2.75’ wide and .24” thick. With the bail the whole piece is 3” long.

The chain is 24” and can be adjusted down from that. It has a lobster clasp to make it adjustable. The chain is a heavy silver plated link chain, that looks to be brushed silver.

The Berber Agate comes from Morocco.

Agate is a microcrystalline variety of silica, chiefly chalcedony, characterized by its fineness of grain and brightness of color. Although agates may be found in various kinds of rock, they are classically associated with volcanic rocks and can be common in certain metamorphic rocks.

The stone was given its name by Theophrastus, a Greek philosopher and naturalist, who discovered the stone along the shore line of the river Achates sometime between the 4th and 3rd centuries BC. Colorful agates and other chalcedonies were obtained over 3,000 years ago from the Achates River, now called Dirillo, in Sicily.

Agate is THE stone everyone should have for protection. This group of stones are variegated chalcedony. (see also moss agate, eye agate) The agate is one of the oldest stones in recorded history.

Agates attract strength. Agate is a protection from bad dreams. It also protects from stress and energy drains. Agates have been used in jewelry since Biblical Babylonian times. They were used to ward off storms. They were prized gems in antiquity. The agates with banded colors were placed at the head of a sleeper to give rich and varied dreams.

Whether the effects of crystals stones such as this are real or merely a placebo effect is unknown. All we know for certain is that the use of gemstones in healing goes back centuries. And we know that modern science has discovered some surprising applications for the unique properties of certain crystals as all stones and crystals are made up of the same things that make up our bodies!

Agate is one of the most common materials used in the art of hardstone carving, and has been recovered at a number of ancient sites, indicating its widespread use in the ancient world; for example, archaeological recovery at the Knossos site on Crete illustrates its role in Bronze Age Minoan culture.
